Examples¶
AppMecca ships with seven sample applications that exercise every deployment pattern — from a single-container Flask app to a multi- service showcase with Django + Wagtail + Celery + FastAPI + frontend SPA + edge caching + a shared drive. Each is a complete, working application you can clone and deploy in minutes.
Looking for the full reference?
The Sample Apps Reference page has every
app's repository link, full service list, appmecca.yaml shape,
and a feature-by-example cross-reference.
All sample apps¶
| App | Scope | Services | PG | Redis | Drive | Edge | Shows |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| hello-flask | minimal | 1 | — | — | — | — | Simplest possible AppMecca app |
| django-celery-tasks | workers | 2 | ✓ | ✓ | — | — | Celery workers from one image via command: |

PG = database.enabled: true (the managed PostgreSQL database).
Redis = cache.enabled: true (the managed Redis cache).
Drive = storage.drives + deploy[].drives (shared filesystem).
Edge = deploy[].cache present (the AppMecca edge cache).
See the Sample Apps Reference for per-app details, or the authoritative sample_apps/README.md in the platform repo.
Topical guides¶
These walk through platform patterns without tying to a specific sample app — useful when building something new.
- Simple web app — single-container walkthrough
- App with a database — adding PostgreSQL
- Multi-container app — separate images per service
- Static sites — nginx + content caching patterns
How to run any sample app¶
# 1. Register the repo. This runs a pre-flight check — AppMecca clones the
# repo, confirms the branch is reachable, and validates appmecca.yaml.
# It does NOT start a build.
mecca register git@gitlab.com:appmecca-sample-apps/<app-name>.git "<Title>" -e <env>
# 2. Build + deploy (auto-deploys on build success)
mecca build trigger -g git@gitlab.com:appmecca-sample-apps/<app-name>.git -e <env>
Or clone and run locally — every app ships with a Makefile and the
showcases include per-service make dev-<service> targets:
cd sample_apps
./apps.sh clone photogallery
cd photogallery
make install
make dev-backend # in one terminal
make dev-fastapi # in another
make dev-solid # in another
The wider catalogue¶
The seven apps above are the AppMecca-authored full-stack showcases.
Alongside them, the appmecca-sample-apps GitLab group hosts ~40
smaller apps covering individual features and per-language patterns
— hello-world servers in every major language, REST API + database
apps across stacks (Django, FastAPI, Laravel, Spring Boot, .NET,
Actix, etc.), Redis/cache demos, workers in multiple frameworks
(Celery, BullMQ, Sidekiq, Spring Task), branch-deployment demos, and
targeted feature showcases (auto-rollback-demo, bucket-demo,
cron-demo, microservices-demo, spa-config-demo, livechat).
Every per-app .md file in this directory corresponds to a real
GitLab repo. See the Sample Apps Reference
for the feature-by-example cross-reference, or run
./sample_apps/apps.sh clone-all to check them all out locally.
